Dr. Rush knew at a young age that he wanted to have a career in Veterinary Medicine. He grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta and attended UGA, where he met his wife, Kathie, over 45 years ago. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. It was there that he fell in love with Bulldogs, both the breed and the university.
Dr. Rush worked as an associate vet at Roswell Animal Hospital for 10 years before purchasing DeKalb Animal Hospital in 1996. He sold his business in 2022. During his career, he and his wife raised two children and had over thirty litters of Bulldogs.
He has been active in the English Bulldog breed club and Bulldog Rescue. He was a Rotarian for 25 years, coached his children’s soccer teams and was active in Boy Scouts, both as a child and a parent. Professionally, he is helping on the GVMA Board and The CVM Alumni Board. After moving back to Athens in 2024, he was eager to get back into working at a veterinary hospital and found his new home at NOAH. He spends most of his free time gardening, woodturning, and grandparenting.
